    • Public Assistance Projects Hit $2.38 Billion in Louisiana

      NEW ORLEANS, La. — Figures released this week show that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and debris removal contractors are making huge strides toward cleaning up the debris left by last summer’s hurricanes in Louisiana. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated a total of $2.38 billion for public assistance in Louisiana, with a large portion going to debris removal. [more]


    • FEMA Transitional Recovery Office Opens in Montgomery

      MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Even as the 2006 hurricane season is underway, work continues to provide assistance and services to Hurricane Katrina survivors in Alabama. As a result, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) opened a joint Transitional Recovery Office (TRO) in Montgomery.
