FEMA Region II serves the federal emergency management needs of the State of
New York, the State of New Jersey, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Territory
of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Region II employs 67 full-time employees, and can
draw on a cadre of over 700 Disaster Temporary Employees (DTEs) or "reservists"
during a Presidential Disaster Declaration.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) continues its All Hazards Preparedness Campaign in supermarkets and stores throughout the Island, to advise people on how to rebuild by implementing mitigation measures to prevent future damages. In July 2010, FEMA began this Campaign in hardware stores where more than 11,592 persons have been reached. [more]

Albany, N.Y. — Bayville, located on the northernmost tip of Nassau County, escaped storm damage from the March nor?easter because of Federal Emergency Management Agency?s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) projects. These were undertaken 12 years ago when a storm drainage system, leaching pits and a retaining wall project were constructed.
