    • FEMA Adds $25.22 Million in Mississippi Public Assistance

      BILOXI, Miss. — Education is the major beneficiary of an additional $25.22 million in Public Assistance grants for Mississippi recently awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Public Assistance reimbursement from FEMA for the state's Hurricane Katrina recovery now totals $1.37 billion. [more]


    • FEMA Applicant Support Call Center Opens July 3

      BILOXI, Miss. — A new Mississippi Maintenance/Applicant Support Call Center in Jackson will begin operating Monday, July 3. The center, opened by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist Mississippi residents with mobile home and travel trailer maintenance and to support them in a wide range of applicant issues.     • FEMA Registration Opens Door To Federal Disaster Assistance

      ANDOVER, Mass. — State and federal disaster officials are concerned that persons eligible for disaster aid from the recent storms may not be applying for aid under the erroneous assumption that by reporting damages to state and local officials or to the American Red Cross they have already applied for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance. They must, however, apply directly to FEMA to receive assistance. [more]
