      ALBANY, N.Y. — To better serve flood victims, Mobile Disaster Assistance Service Centers are currently open and more are being deployed to flood-affected counties throughout New York State. Federal and State officials are pleased to offer these disaster-recovery information centers on wheels as a convenient way for flood victims to meet face-to-face with recovery experts and register for disaster aid using the phones or computers on site at these units.       ORLANDO, Fla. – Monday will mark one year since Hurricane Dennis struck Florida’s panhandle and offered a prelude to what would become the most active hurricane season in history.     • President Declares Major Disaster For New Jersey

      WASHINGTON - The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for the State of New Jersey.       ANDOVER, Mass. — The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is encouraging residents to assist local governments to produce or update a FEMA approved Hazard Mitigation Plan for their community.     • FEMA Adds $15.9 Million in Mississippi Public Assistance

      BILOXI, Miss. — An additional $16 million in Public Assistance grants for Mississippi has been awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). That brings the state’s total FEMA Public Assistance reimbursement for Hurricane Katrina recovery to $1.4 billion. [more]
